BRRISON - or Balloon Rapid Response for ISON - was a stratospheric science balloon that planned to lift a gondola housing the refurbished Stratospheric Terahertz Observatory (STO) telescope and science instruments 37 km (23 miles) above the Earth's surface in order to capture images and data of comet ISON in September 2013. The payload had two instruments:
On 28 Sept 2013, the "payload suffered an anomaly following launch" from Fort Sumner, NM. Although no data of the comet was collected, the ground calibration data has been collected and safed.
NASA's Glenn Research Center managed BRRISON.
The SBN is the lead PDS node to archive the BRRISON mission data.
These data have been safed. Contact SBN.
